Fast technology & Mobile phone

It is amazing to see how fast the technology moves. Mobile phones are overflowed all over the world. Every month there is a new type of mobile phone on the market, the price for call is falling down and the network is spreading out and becoming better quality. Effective technology uses satellite connection and therefore it can provide good connection in far distance and less settled places. Even though that satellite allow faster connection the cost is lower than with cable connection. The mobile phones also come with many different features. E.g. alarm clock, maximum resistance against external influences and damage, camera, video, bluetooth,.... Even though that this has been very desirable factor which influenced purchase, nowadays more and more people start thinking and becoming uncomfortable with a big number of features: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Mobile-Users-Say-Phones-Come-With-Too-Many-Features-47848.shtml.
According the Mirror article people voted mobiles as one of the worst invention: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/2787219.stm
In the future the global communication is expected. Personal mobile phones are becoming smaller and smaller and the connection is going to be from every part of the world and in any time. "ONE PHONE-ONE NUMBER-ONE ACCOUNT" - This is the motto of the future!!!
It is assumed that every child will get a special 14-digit number according that every person will be filed. This should replace today's passport, driving licence and credit card number. The number would be coded in personal "pocket machine" and people would be able to do a call from this special tool.
So what do you think about this mobile future, is it good or bad for us? I am personally confused. On one side it is amazing to see all new inventions which primary tend to make easier our lives. But secondary the fact that people always abuse of power of innocent invention is still in my mind.
